Becoming Me Past Review

By (International Business, University of New Hampshire) - abroad from 01/06/2015 to 05/02/2015 with

Regent’s University London: Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
There is no way to put what I learned abroad into words. Not only do you gain a deeper understanding of world views, cultures, and get different opinions than you ever would in the US, but you also get to discover a lot about yourself.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Really great classes with opportunities to go explore the city and learn about the culture. However some of the teachers were too intense for an intro course and expected us to be experts on the topic.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Everyone was super helpful and friendly. If you ever had a question someone would be there to help you figure it out.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Same thing every week. Curry Tuesdays will haunt me for life.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt like the American college was very much separated, and there wasn't much opportunity outisde of class to get involved with 'typical English' activities.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I spent about $5,000 in total, but i also traveled a lot. I could have budgeted to spend less, but i worked with the budget that i had set forth before going.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? try to eat at the refectory, and if you're going out at night go to Shoreditch or other cheaper districts like Camden rather than Piccadilly.

The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

Introduction to Music Appreciation

Course Department: Music
Instructor: Benjamin Wolf
Instruction Language: English
Comments: The teacher was a great guy who was very passionate about his field of study, however this is an intro to music appreciation class and all of the students felt like he expected us to be experts. Rather than focusing on overarching themes, we got very specific and detail oriented, which would be fine if it wasn't a higher level of language used for an introduction class.
