Regent’s University London: Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I met so many people from all different parts of the world, so I really learned to see things through other perspectives and behave differently. Also, is the best way to learn a second language since you will be using it all day everyday. At last, since your time abroad is limited, you just NEED to know every place, so when you're not studying, you're travelling!

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I found accommodation on my own, but the people at Regent's helped me out with some tips

I don't think the university had something to do with my cultural integration

I needed assistance one, but there was no first aid post. The lady in the reception helped me out a little

Central London is unbelievably safe. Could catch a bus home at 5am that it was ok!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

1 London is really, really expensive. However, University is easily accessed (tube station and many bus stops nearby), and the food was cheap (2.95 pounds for a big salad box!).

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 250pounds on average. (But I believe I spend more than most people, I'm always buying clothes, books and experiencing new restaurants)
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you can't have lunch at home, have a lunch box and take it to uni. Cooking at home is always cheaper. Also, look for the cheapest combined purchases of transportation tickets and always look for student discounts--they're everywhere!

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'

Comments: One of the greatest classes I've ever had. Varin is amazing, she inspires her students and makes us more interested in african subjects, and politics in general. She suggested many off classroom lectures that were very interesting.
