Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I would say that the workload was less than my university school at home (small Christian school). We also didnt have classes on Fridays, so it left room to travel more on the weekends. A few large paper assignments, but nothing you cant do. I remember having do a few papers, but that was the most of courseload.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

There was about 15 other ASA students in London our semester. We all became quite close. As always, there were of course other study abroaders at our university and even in our flats, so we built community with them, as well. My expectations were definitely met, in fact it was exceeded.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Study abroaders at Regents stay in flats that are owned by Regents (the school). I lived with 3 other girls, but a flat is made for 6 total. (one girl didnt show up) The location was AMAZING, i could not emphasize that more. We were in central london. A walk outside the apartment leads to you to anythin you need. Also, it is about a 8 block walk to Hyde Park (always bustling with people laying, chilling, and eating on the grass) and to Oxford Street (a famous, overcrowded shopping street). London's transportation system is quite amazing, as well. It is very easy to get anywhere in and around London. I should add that there were some difficulties within our flat, such as utilitys, however you can sign up your name in the lobby and people come to get whatever fixed.

* Food:

Food at Regents was quite good. They didnt provide as many options as my home school, but they had a vegetarian option, meat option, and another option. There was also a sandwhich bar, as well. They always have a great salad bar, to-go meals (not only sandwiches, but hummus and other greek style food choices). England desserts are delightful, as well. Overall, the refractory (cafeteria) was a great experience every time!!!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I wanted to experiece a new culture, travel, meet new people, and have a chance at something that only 1% of college students do...study abroad. I would reccomend this program to any individual who may be new to travel as its in an english speaking country or that wants to live in the most MAGICAL city. ****Also, just because its in an english speaking country DOES NOT MEAN its less of a cultural experience. A walk down any street will lead you to hear MANY different languages and see many different cultures. Also, Its beautiful wherever you walk. Every museum, or park is break taking. Always beautiful.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

London is probably one of the safest citys. Nothing happened to me or my friends in that topic. As far as when your sick, there is a doctor to go to right across campus. It seems to always be full and waiting lines, but you can make appointments.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? London truly is a beautiful, magical city. Its in a nice spot to travel in Europe. However, if you want to experience a different language barrier, you should choose another country. This DOES NOT MEAN its less of a cultural experience. You still will experience a different culture, and not to mention everywhere you go there are people from all over the world. People are very nice there, i know sometimes there is a stereotype of cold, mean british people. NOT TRUE. i met some of the most amazing british people.they seem to open up more that americans, and they are more personable. in fact, i still am best friends with one. If you want to meet people from all over the world, choose london.
