What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I have gained so much from studying abroad. With this opportunity I was able to explore other countries within Europe. I was able to really be part of a community and learn to be more independent during this semester. I think it was definitely a worthwhile experience.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

During my time here I was able to take courses that allowed me to learn outside the classroom. Being able to experience what we were learning in a more immersive way really helped me to understand the Irish culture. The professors at this program care about your success and are there to help you.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration that is in Dingle are great. If you need anything they are there to help you.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The housing is great! The rooms are a nice size and each room gets their own shower so you only sharing with one other person. The kitchen is perfect for cooking. It definitely is a great place to stay for the semester since it’s not too far from where classes are in town.

* Food:

The whole town is your dining hall. You can’t go wrong with any restaurants and there are plenty of them. From fish stands to Michelin award winning restaurants and everything in between this town gives you a chance to explore the food world.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It’s hard not to feel like you part of the local culture in Dingle. From our classes that teach you about it to actually getting to go to the different festivals the town has during the fall semester. During the semester I was able to learn to play a traditional Irish tin whistle and learn a few Irish phrases. I was also able to go to the food festival and eat food from all over Ireland. Also part of the program is planned activities like going to Slea Head and Blasket Islands which have very historical roots to Dingle.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Dingle is probably one of the safest towns! I always felt safe day and night in the town.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Dingle is like another home to me. If I could do it all over again I would because it was the best semester of my college career so far.

Finances

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
