About
SAI invites students to experience Barcelona's vibrant diversity!
Students attending the Instituto Químico de Sarrià (IQS) Barcelona semester program with SAI have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and broaden their horizons in one of Europe's most fascinating cities. SAI students immerse themselves in a semester of specialized academic work at IQS, focusing on either Management or Engineering. Building customized schedules based upon pre-determined sets of classes, or “itineraries,” students earn between 12 – 15 credits per semester.
In addition to supporting students throughout their stay in Barcelona, SAI also coordinates a range of activities and excursions throughout the term, including a weekend trip to Seville, cooking classes, a Flamenco dance demonstration, a Barcelona scavenger hunt, and many others. Students also have access to SAI’s network of partner organizations, allowing them to take part in volunteer activities, as well as language exchange opportunities with local students and families.
The Instituto Químico de Sarrià (IQS) is a prestigious Jesuit institution in Barcelona with more than a century of experience providing a holistic approach to education for Spanish and international students. IQS consists of two divisions: the IQS School of Engineering and the IQS School of Management (AACSB accredited). IQS and its University network enjoys a reputation for academic excellence and social commitment that ensures a well-rounded and challenging experience for its students. Courses are taught in English and class sizes are small, allowing maximum access to IQS's world-class faculty.
SAI students in Barcelona experience the overlapping cultural currents which flow through Barcelona; from its origins as an ancient Mediterranean settlement, to its unique status as the modern capital of Catalonia. Visiting students immerse themselves in the dynamic entity which is Barcelona and examine the influences which impact this remarkable community, from the local to the global.
