There is no place like Sorrento and I think everyone should experience it. Past Review
By Kayla Chaya Avisror (Indiana University - Bloomington) - abroad from 07/02/2018 to 07/20/2018 with
SAI Study Abroad: Sorrento - Sant'Anna Institute (SA)
It was so worthwhile, I gained a better worldview and understanding of the way that other cultures live, eat, and drink

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and Serena was always so helpful, I know our groupchat was overwhelmed with requests often and she was always so kind and willing to help us. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I loved the apartment, but it was definitely a walk to school |
* Food: |
No complaints with the food received, I was simply surprised that for the large cost of the trip, we did not receive all meals paid for, but I know that can't be helped without raising the cost |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I loved everything about the culture here, we even became friends with the owners of the bar we live above and that is something so special about this place, everyone is so friendly and hospitable |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I felt so safe here, I was surprised, I feel safer here than in Bloomington, where we go to school |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I loved the people both on the trip with me and the locals, the only thing I might change is the timing for me, simply because I had to get a large loan to come here |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I definitely had a hard time with this and I think a lot of that come from eating at restaurants as meals were not provided. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Honestly I haven't tracked it, but maybe 500? |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Eat at home, its hard when there's so many great restaurants around but it will save so much money, and if you want to go out for drinks, try to limit yourself |

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | I have to be my own advocate, if I have questions they will not be answered by my coordinator, I have to directly ask Serena or the school |
