Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The trip was great. We learned much just by being immersed in the culture and the hospital setting. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
I learned much about the healthcare in China and got to see and learn much in the hospital. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
We lived in the top of the hospital. I shared a room and bathroom with another Samford student. Our accomodations were great.

|
* Food: |
The food was delicious Chinese food unlike anything I've ever eaten. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
We got to do and see so many fun things in China! |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | The only things I bought were souvenirs because our meals were paid for. For the entire month I only spent $100 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Everything is really cheap! Leave room in your bag to bring home souvenirs! |
Language
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
Language acquisition improvement? |
We learned some words in Chinese but we always had translators there to help us. |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | The Sands are wonderful. It was a wonderful trip where I learned so much about Chinese culture and beliefs, got to see many things in the hospital such as heart surgery, and also was a silent light of Christ to the people of China as we would go for walks at night and pray. |
