San Diego State University: China – Accounting in China, Hosted by the Asia Institute

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I was able to get a feel for Chinese culture and how the Chinese live in Shanghai. I was also able to visit a high school friend in Hefei while there, and we were able to spend time together as well. Overall the whole trip was worth it and one that I would gladly repeat!

The hotel was very nice, and had amazing AC, which was much needed in July!

The chinese food was amazing! We went to a lot of cool Chinese restaurants!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I didn't have any health issues, so this isn't applicable

* Safety:

I felt very safe while in Shanghai. The area around our hotel seemed safe as well.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I enjoyed my time in Shanghai, and the Asia Institute was very accommodating to any requests that we had as a class. They were knowledgeable about the city and were able to help us when we had questions about where things were or where to find certain places.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Since most costs were already included in the tuition we paid, the only day-to-day costs were for food and transportation. These were relatively easy to live on.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $100 USD per week
