Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
the three teachers from here that we had were great. Domenico the Italian teacher is the man and I learned a ton from him. Archaeology is totally a history class though, I was hoping to learn more about the actual techniques and processes that archaeologists go through. teachers are wicked helpful though and are readily accessible whenever you need them. don't expect the school to be like anything you'd see back in the states though it's an old convent turned elementary school turned college. great view of Vesuvius and the Mediterranean from some of the class rooms. by the way all the classes are with only Americans just incase you thought you'd be studying along Italians. the school is also only about 100 students max and we were only introduced to and had classes with one other school here but they were cool kids from NY we had a good time |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
the teachers and office workers who directly interact with us are awesome but the upper management seems a bit shady to us. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
tried to put 7 people in a small apartment with two triple rooms and one single room. had to move one person out just so we could function but now we manage alright. the owner of the building clearly didn't know what she was getting into when she signed up to have a bunch of college kids in her building because we've gotten multiple complaints for basic things such as moving our chairs across the floor at night. however this apartment has the sickest view I've ever seen of Mt. Vesuvius. |
* Food: |
They don't serve any food here. you have to buy all your own food at the supermarket or restaurants. Restaurants are wicked good here though but pricy, this towns a tourist trap which is cool on the weekends because you meet a ton of other study abroad students from all over europe. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
people around here are pretty cool, we've made a bunch of good friends. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
full free coverage provided by our study abroad program (SAI) was a nice safety net to have |
* Safety: |
its a pretty safe area with a small group of a rough crowd but it's just like anywhere else you would go |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
dont come here with a budget |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $7500+ and only traveled to 3 places |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
pretty cool talking to people at restaurants, bars, etc. in a different language |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Intermediate |
