Live and study in Paris, the premier art capital of the world!  Paris is the best place to see the art of the Romantics and the Impressionists.  Study the work of Edouard Manet, Claude Monet, Degas, Rodin, Van Gogh, and Toulouse Lautrec.  Learn about the artists and their work in the world’s most famous museums.  Over the centuries, so many of them have come to Paris to work and be inspired by the beauty and energy of this city.  Experience in person the art you’ve admired in textbooks and movies!

Explore Gothic cathedrals, Renaissance castles, Baroque palaces, classical gardens, and of course the Eiffel Tower and the Old Paris Opera House.  Paris also has exceptional modern and fascinating postmodern buildings!

Gather insight into French culture by living in the heart of this beautiful French city during this summer program.  Experience fireworks at the Eiffel Tower on Bastille Day and the finale of the Tour de France in the heart of Paris!  Read a book in an intimate park.  Enjoy lively Parisian cafés, discover delicious food and vibrant music scenes by night.

Program Director
Dr. Joy Kunz teaches Art History at SBCC and combines her love of art, architecture, and travel in SBCC Study Abroad programs.  Dr. Kunz has traveled extensively in Europe, Africa, and South America.  She earned a degree in Literature from California Lutheran University, a Master's degree in Renaissance Art History from Saint Louis University, and a Ph.D. from the University of California Santa
Barbara in American Modern and a sub-specialty in European 19th Century Art and Architecture.  One of Professor Kunz's greatest pleasures is introducing students to great art and architecture and to the rich experience of living in Paris.

Program Requirements
The Summer 2018 program in Paris is open to students who are 18+ years and who are in good academic standing.  There is no language or major requirement.  You do not have to be currently enrolled at SBCC, but must enroll for Summer II, 2018 once you are accepted to the program.  You will be required to attend a mandatory pre-departure meeting in May 2018.  Details will be sent prior to the meeting.

Santa Barbara City College Scholarships

SBCC offers several scholarships for studying abroad on one of the SBCC Study Abroad programs offered every semester. To apply for the scholarships, you have to be enrolled at SBCC and apply during the appropriate application time frame for the chosen study abroad program. Additional requirements may apply. Scholarship awards are between $800 and $2,500 and a student may be selected for more than one scholarship. When completing the application, make sure you check YES for wanting to study abroad to open the section for Study Abroad Scholarships.

Guidelines/Requirements:
Unless otherwise stated in individual scholarship descriptions, applicants must be full-time students, carrying twelve (12) or more units each semester/term of the award period. *To be eligible for the SBCC Study Abroad Scholarships students do not have to be accepted into the program, but program applications need to be on file with the Study Abroad Office to be considered for the scholarship awards.
