About
Not only do Germany and the Netherlands offer visitors amazing cultural and historical experiences, but both have a rich history in the sciences with headquarters of major world-wide chemical manufacturers located in both countries. Visiting and gaining on-site, first-hand knowledge of some of the recent advances in science-related fields will be invaluable to the students participating in this program.
Germany has had a profound impact on chemistry, physics, and related disciplines and is a world leader in the chemical distribution market. Chemical giants such as BASF, Merck, and Bayer all have German roots and have headquarters located there. Germany has also historically contributed substantially to automobile design and development (e.g. Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche). Lastly, Germany has numerous academic institutions that are leaders in their specialized fields and is one of the best countries in the world to receive a college education, making it an ideal location for a interdisciplinary science-based study abroad program. To allow for even more exposure to institutes of excellence and cultural exposure a short trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands is part of the program. Not all of the excursions will be academically driven, some will have purely cultural values and of course free time for independent exploration will be provided.
