Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was large and the expectations very high, but it was refreshing to be around students who are very knowledgeable and attentive during class.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I had a very bad housing situation at the beginning. I was subletting a room in another student's apartment. He was kind at first but soon become very possessive and jealous, and then kicked me out of the apartment when I had a date over for dinner. He threw my things around the apartment and just went kind of mental. I had no resources to turn to and was homeless for 15 days, sleeping on friends couches until I managed to transfer enough money on my bank account to put down a large deposit for a new studio by myself. It would have helped to have some sort of renter protection.

* Food:

Nobody should come back from France with anything but a five star rating for the cuisine.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Go on the school sponsored trips and to the parties. I'm not big on school sponsored events in the US, but they are TONS of fun in France and it's a great (and relatively cheap) way to meet other students and try fun things.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Life in general is expensive in Paris. Just be aware of it before going.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
