What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I earned hours and experience for my captains license - the program was absolutely worthwhile, this experience changed my entire approach to how I see the world.

Some courses were more strongly taught than other courses - the sailing course was a more practically led approach, while the biology courses could have been more directly linked with our surroundings.

we were mostly based on the ship, so we didn't have a lot of integrative experience, it was more like a tourist - there for a short period of time to see the sites, and then left.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? it depended on the week bc we were sailing, but around 100 a week.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • traveling to different countries and places each day
  • having local people show us local secrets
  • learning a completely new way of living, that could never be taught in a normal life
* What could be improved?
  • learning to navigate without the advanced technology
  • having tuition include the cost of taking the yachtmaster exam, and help coordinating that
  • doing more group excursions
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I knew how little living space there was going to be, and that seasickness was going to happen. But that you get over it.
