What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I made amazing friendships with the most amazing people and got to know this gorgeous little corner of the world. Perfected my Spanish, learned from a ton of people (locals and foreigners we met!), and visited beautiful places Would recommend x1000000 !

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

It's hard to find fresh vegetables in Ushuaia. I'm vegan, so food was especially tricky for me. But everyone around me was very attentive and provided vegan alternatives when possible.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Meal prepping is something I wish I had done more of - would've helped me save a lot on lunches. It's a bit tricky as cooking at home depends on host-family dynamics, but if you implement this habit at the start of the semester it'll be a lot easier further on.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Advanced
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Fluent

* What could be improved?
  • Food.............
  • Some host family dynamics
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Sounds very intuitive, but it's always great to remember that everyone who chooses a program like this wants to make friends/go outside/learn about the place they're calling home for a few months. Everyone is on the same boat (figuratively and literally)!
