Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved the homestay experience. It was the best part of my time in Argentina.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Just don't walk around with your iPhone out. Don't walk around alone at night. Be aware of catcalling. Be street smart and you'll be okay.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I did have problems with the program, but overall, I felt like I got a lot from it. I formed a close relationship with my host mom that will last well into the future, and the independent study project taught me a lot about what I'm interested in and how to work independently. I also learned a lot about Argentine culture.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

We had a stipend which made it easier. Plus, the host families made 2 meals a day for us.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? >$100

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

They made us use the language with them and wanted us to use it all the time, but there was only so much they could do to push us to speak Spanish when we were more comfortable with English. The homestay was a big component in forcing me to speak Spanish for long periods of time.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Advanced
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Fluent
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? 125
How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Force yourself to speak the language with your friends even when it's more comfortable to speak English.
