Enriching learning experience in one of the finest cities in Latin America! January 25, 2023
By A student (Peace and Justice Studies, Wellesley College) - abroad from 08/24/2023 to 12/06/2023 with
SIT Study Abroad: Argentina - Social Movements and Human Rights
I gained a deeper understanding of what the concept of human rights entail and how important perspectives from other cultures are to understand it. It was 100% worthwhile and has changed the way I view everything I studied before it and everything I will study now. Could not be more glad that I chose this program.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Learned so much! I had a lot of fun with my friends exploring the city but truly what I learned and the way our classes and visits were set up were the best part of the trip. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Some of the most wonderful individuals I have ever met! Truly so supportive, smart, and overall amazing and inspiring women who fostered an amazing atmosphere and community |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
Had fun exploring the different restaurants in the city but really missed more flavorful food and the diversity of cuisines that I am used to in the states. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Wish I could've met more locals but it was hard since we only took classes with other people in the program. Still all the friends I did make were amazing and one of my favorite parts of the experience. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
It can be a bit frustrating to go through the bureaucracy but pretty much any health concern was addressed and the program managers specifically were always so helpful. |
* Safety: |
Felt safe most of the time, obviously as a woman at night I would be extra attentive and in general I made sure to have a fanny pack or backpack rather than a purse that can be easily snatched. The orientation explains how to keep yourself and your things safe and as long as you follow their advice there is nothing to fear. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
