Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The program itself was fantastic, the classes, not so much. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Very country-dependent. India was incredibly smooth and well-run, while Vietnam had a few more kinks to work out. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Homestays were an integral part of the experience. While not always the most comfortable, it was wonderful to live with families. |
* Food: |
I loved the food, although sometimes lunch stipends were not quite enough to cover a full meal. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
We were in homestays, which was great, but we were pretty much scheduled with the other participants from about 9-5 every day. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I got drug-resistant E. Coli and had to spend three days in a Vietnamese hospital. The program took good care of me, and people visited me everyday, but reintegration was hard and it didn't feel like I could make up the time I'd lost. |
* Safety: |
Be really careful about valuables in Cape Town. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | No |

The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
