Going on this trip just made me want to travel even more. It made me realize how much I don't know about so many other countries.
Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 2 weeks - 1 month |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Although I had an amazing time abroad and I learned a lot, the work load was large and sometimes hard to manage. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The program advisor was accessible and knowledgeable; however, the opinions she held of certain students seemed to affect their grade. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I lived in a very loud, and chaotic neighborhood, but I absolutely loved it and my host family. My host family made me feel like family. |
* Food: |
The program center food was always safe to eat and very good. I also loved my host families cooking. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Program excursions were well organized and fun! |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I never felt unsafe because I never put my self in unsafe positions. The program is very aware of the health risks and takes good care of ill students. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | I probably spent about 500 rupees (ten dollars) a week (if not less) on food and transportation when I wasn't living with my homestay family. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | I never really ran into expense problems because everything was so cheap. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |
|
Language acquisition improvement? |
We used the language daily. Even though many people spoke English, students gained a lot of respect from locals by trying. |
