Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was not well planned as we would be very free for weeks at a time and then spend a couple days completing important assignments for all courses. Teaching methods were similar lecture style.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Students did not have a physical place for studying as the program house was closed after class hours. We did not have access to a library or other place for studying during normal hours which posed a problem when it came time to complete academic assignments.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

The food is delicious and often plentiful.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I bonded with the other students on my program.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

We were adequately prepared with earthquake safety protocol. luckily the earthquake did not cause any serious damage.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced Nepali with a lot of regular townspeople who were happy to hear me speak their native language. My host mother helped me improve because she didn't speak english. Most middle-class people, typically men, spoke some english. My host father spoke enough to help me ease into the homestay as I was learning the basics of the language
