SIT Study Abroad: Reviews from Former Locations
I learned to be open minded when meeting and interacting with people who are very different from me. I learned about social enterprises and am inspired to continue in this field. I gained so much knowledge on different countries and cultures and lifestyles, as well as a set of new skills.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Many essays and projects. Expect the academic rigor to be equivalent to your home institution. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The staff is dedicated and outstanding. |
* Housing:

Our homestay families provided excellent insight into the local culture and society. |
* Food: |
We tried lots of new foods in each country. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
We spent too much time among our group and not enough time with local people. |

We received excellent medical care in each place we were in. |
* Safety: |
I never felt unsafe in any way. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
IHP Social Entrepreneurship challenged my perspectives on everything I thought I knew, which was life changing. I would do it again if only I could! |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
India and Uganda are much less expensive than Brazil and US, though I found most things affordable in all places we visited. It's easy to live on a students' budget. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Under $100 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Bring half of what you think you'll need, and twice as much money. |

A Look Back
* What did you like most about the program? |
|
* What could be improved? |
|
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | That we will spend the majority of time in our group, and the needs of the group will be the focal point of the program at times instead of the local colitis. Better make friends with people early on! |
