SIT Study Abroad: South Africa: Education and Social Change (Summer)

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
During the six weeks in South Africa, myself and the other students came up with the saying YOSAO (Your Only in South Africa Once). Although, many of us know that in the future we will come back to visit, this helped us when we tried new things. For instance, if we really didn't care for the food we were about to eat we would all just look at each other and enthusiastically say...YOSAO!!. Being abroad consists of simply being open minded and living fearlessly. We all had to come out of our comfort zones and try new things. This was one of the most valuable lessons learned and helped me to connect with the people in the country.
