Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I definitely learned alot, but the course load was alot easier than at my college. BUt I loved the way they taught because it was based in experiential learning. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Strengths was probably the academic director, and the excursions/homestays. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
We were served alot of food in our homestays. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
It was all amazing but the most memorable excursion was probably Robben Island |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
You just have to use your common sense like you would at home |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | They give you a stipend. I ended up spending hardly any of my own money. I spent maybe $400 of my own money and most of that was for gifts. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | It depends on what your spending habits are like at home. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
Language acquisition improvement? |
Everyone who spoke that language/two of my home stay families. I needed to use it in one of my homestays. I did use it almost every day but if i didn't know it I probably would have been fine. However, it did help. |
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |
