Despite the difficulties, the programme was definitely worthwhile. I made great connections and learnt a lot through my internhsip.

There were major safety issues and the programme was not well organised.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? homestay placements are random, they do not place you with a fmaily that you might be a good match for. Also, half the programme is spent ina township which severley limits your movement and ability to explore the city.

Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
