About
Skidmore-in-Madrid (run jointly with the Tufts Program) is designed to fully integrate students into Spanish life through direct enrollment at the Autonomous University of Madrid or the University of Alcalá, global internships, ongoing intercultural mentoring, individualized family stay, integration into social and cultural activities, and weekly contact with Spanish peer mentors.
The Madrid program center (“Monte Esquinza”) is situated in the Almagro neighborhood of Madrid and houses the administrative offices, classrooms, a library, and study rooms and computers, printers and scanners for student use. All program “in-house” courses are offered at the Madrid program center.
The Alcalá program center (María de Guzmán”) is located in the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras at the University of Alcalá. The program center houses administrative offices, student study area and lounge; computers, printers and scanners are available for student use.
Students typically take one or two courses at the Spanish university and one or two courses at the program center in Madrid. Most students also participate in an internship (credit bearing or non-credit bearing) related to their academic interests or their professional future. Additionally, all students complete a 7 hour Intercultural Competence Development Seminar, and are awarded a certificate of completion.
