Spain Study Abroad Reflections: Comprehensive Reviews of Past Programs

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes it was an amazing experience.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

There was actually more work that I expected. When I was in Madrid it was hard to go out to explore during the day because if you took a morning and afternoon class you were booked until 6pm.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration at the airport within the group was not helpful. Even on the way down, when no one knew where they were going, the Forspro representative was unhelpful to us.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The beds were very small and uncompfortable and the temperature in them were unbearable.

The location of the school was not as close to Madrid as I actually thought.

* Food:

The food was very bad.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The night life in Spain was very fun.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

no.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Everything in spain was pretty cheap so if you ate the free meals that were included you did not have to spend a lot of money other than on souveniers you wanted.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you are a picky eater you should just find a cheap place that you can eat so you don't have to spend too much on food.

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
