The Madrid team is amazing. They are so helpful and supportive. They have really created a community feel in the Sede Prim. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I was in a shared apartment, and while it was great for my language skills as we spoke only in Spanish, it was difficult due to issues with a few roommates. |
* Food: |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I was in Spain for the year, and I am diabetic, so I went to the doctor several times for regular check ups. The practice they recommended was great. The staff was very helpful in getting appointments, or giving recommendations on healthcare providers or pharmacies in the area. The local care was on par with the care at home. |
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
This program was exactly what I needed in order to improve my language skills. The year abroad in Spain dramatically increased my knowledge of Spanish. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I could have been more frugal if I had chosen to do so, but I found the cost of living in Madrid fairly cheap in comparison with US cities. |

How many hours per day did you use the language? | |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | I found that the best way to practice was to meet locals. Sign up for a language exchange partner! |
