Overall Really Good January 04, 2025

Spelman College: Atlanta - Domestic Exchange for Visiting Students
I learned the meaning of individuality and learned to embrace solo experiences the same way I embrace group experiences. That was probably one of the best lessons I learned, which made my experience so much better.
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
My overall educational experience was good. My classes were interesting, and my professors were passionate about the subject. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The administration is very kind, but sometimes it's difficult to get ahold of someone if you need something done that is time-sensitive. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
The food is generally good, but as a vegetarian, I was often left with minimal options in their cafe and it would sometimes be hard to find a balanced meal. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
This experience was a lot of fun. I enjoyed being immersed in HBCU culture, and I grew so much from that. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Personal expenses, such as paying for personal hygiene products, laundry products, and filling in the gaps from the dining hall, proved to be expensive in Atlanta. The additional layer of paying for transportation while down there also added to this. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | No |
