Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
We took a British Cultural class that was only 2 credits but was treated much more like a 4 credit class with a heavy workload and a professor that always ran over her allowed time to teach us. Would not only go over on her time but also have us wake up at 8:00am to watch old British movies. It needs to be more than a 2 credit course for all the work that we had to do. |

This is what I had the worst experience with and what has therefore put a sour taste in my mouth about this England trip. The Alnwick program should be removed or suspended until they can get livable conditions for students. Not once before the trip did they show us what our living conditions were going to be and I should have known right away that would be a huge red sign. The castle conditions are so old. Our rooms were dirty upon arrival (dirty underwear on my mattress, hairballs in my closet) and not to mention we had to clean them up with the dirty mops and cleaning supplies that they had provided for us. The FOOD was beyond awful. Time and time again we would receive moldy bread and dirty utensils to eat with. This was brought to Wade (the program leader's) attention numerous times. I began to get so depressed as I was paying for meals that were nasty. One time, there was hair in my meat, gross! I am not a picky eater but mold and hair are not things that I will be tolerating. As for field trips, we would get the SAME meal every single field trip and that got really old. Not once did we have fresh fruit and not until over halfway through the program did we get vegetables with our meals, SUCH a disappointment. SUCH a waste of money. I understand that we were moving into a castle and it was old but the physical things that we were dealing with were disgusting. I wouldn't expect this from a University that is supposed to be accredited and respectable. Christine spent the whole bus ride rambling over an old school microphone in which no one could even hear her anyways, it just seemed like it was very low budget and no one cared about what was actually going on. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I already commented above about the living conditions but I had to buy a MIRROR because my room didn't have one! The sinks were molded out so it was repulsive to brush my teeth in. I had to also buy sheets, a pillow, and a fan. |
* Food: |
TERRIBLE. Already commented above. Went through numerous different chefs in a 2 months period I think that says enough right there. |

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | I dont remember the specifics of it but I spent most of my money on traveling and more then I had intended on for food based on the quality we had. |
