What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was amazing. I learned more than I have in 6 years of college, added a ton to my resume, brought home thousands of photos, and even got engaged. DON'T MISS THIS!!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Great food. If you go out as a group you can often get large discounts. THEY DO NOT BREAK UP THE BILL!!! If you go out to eat (you will a lot) be prepared with smaller bills because every restaurant only gives the table one bill and refuse to break it up.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

There are special events constantly planned so you will be busy. The town is small so they will understand within a day or two that you aren't tourist and then they welcome you in pretty quickly.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Very safe. I cannot comment on healthcare since it was not needed.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? It changes a lot as you go to other countries. You will see areas with higher currency values than your own and some places have a 700-800 to one exchange rate so it depends. Budapest was cheap. Berlin spendy. It also depends on how picky you are or how often you go out.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? BRING CHANGE EVERYWHERE ON THE BUS TOUR!!! Most the places you go will charge you to use the bathrooms. If you can't pay you cant use their facilities. Be prepared! And exchange money before you leave. Get Kuna and Euroes and get the rest while you are there.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? They say you wont need a laptop. I do recommend it since computers are often hard to access and rarely run well enough to use them efficiently for presentations. If your traveling with friends you may only want one with. Cell phones useless most places so don't bother bring it if you don't want. I use mine a lot normally and never used it the entire month. Do not buy food or necessary items within the walls!!! There currency is the Kuna. It cost 20 Kuna to buy a water inside the walls. At the shops in the entrance it is 12. Go 1/2 block out side of the city walls to the grocery store and they have better selection and you can get the same water for 7 Kuna. You can get anything at the grocery store on the way to the Inter-univerisity centre. If you are unsure about this trip I will warn you that you will regret not going.
