St. Mary's College of Maryland: Kanifing - PEACE in The Gambia
Studying abroad in the Gambia is one of the best decisions I could have made. We were fully immersed in the culture by learning the language and being assigned to families. My family in the Gambia truly is my family now and I have already promised to visit them again some day - inshallah. I learned so much from every aspect of this experience through the local language lessons, classes at the university, volunteer experiences, an internship, and spending time with Gambian friends and family. I learned so much from the culture and the people of the Gambia and I am forever grateful for the whole experience - challenges and all.

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
