Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA): Renaissance Art in Italy Up Close
I learned a lot about different periods of art, saw tons of art, learned about the history of the Italy. I gained the experience of knowing I can be on my own and I will be fine. I gained new relationships and connections. The entire experience was one I pray I will never forget. Yes, this trip was worth whiled.

Going in on this trip in the beginning I was not 100% sure because I have never traveled across the ocean let alone by myself across the ocean. But I am so glad I took the jump and went along. Everyone was so kind, we all had a great time, made some new friends and new experiences. Its a trip I have no regrets about taking and would be over joyed to be able to go again. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
It was easy to live and buy what I needed. I'd say the hardest was finding a good exchange rate to change US dollars into euros. So there were times I didn't have cash so I had to use was my debit card and not all places except card. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | at least $100 US |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | If you fine a very good exchange rate such as 1.12, exchange your money there. Don't wait to find another place you may not be able to find one. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
|
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Beginner |
How many hours per day did you use the language? | |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | I used an app on my phone to get the basics down. My trip wasn't a trip to learn about the language just the art. But knowing how to comunnicate helped alot when you needed to order something or wanted to say thank you. |

The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
