Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

My experience in Argentina with the Sol program was by far the best experience of my college career. I not only learned a lot from my experience abroad but, I also got to meet new interesting people.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The professor at the University of Belgrano were some of the best professor I have ever had. They not only enjoyed class discussions but they were also accommodating to the fact that we were exchange students. They took the time to get to know us and not only taught us about the class but they also taught us about Argentina and Buenos Aires. They shared with us their favorite restaurants, museums, music etc. They really took the time to make us feel welcomed and they aided us in understanding Latin America from the perspective of a Latin American.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My house mom was absolutely delightful. I don't think anyone in my program or in most programs had a better host mom. Lilian was by far more than I could have imagined. She not only makes some of the best desserts but she really took an interest in our stay in Argentina. She encouraged us to go out and take in everything Buenos Aires had to offer. She loved to gossip with us and we loved to gossip with her. She gave us our own independence without taking away from the host family experience.

* Food:

Food in Argentina is amazing! Steak, Wine, dulce de leche what more can you need!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Argentinians are super friendly. They are always trying to help and if you are lost in the city don't worry there will surely be someone who will help you.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I personally didn't have any health issues, however, there was a girl in my program who did and it was quickly taken care of. My program director was on call 24/7 for any emergencies.

* Safety:

Buenos Aires as a city is somewhat unsafe. There are a lot of robberies. However, this did not take away from my experience.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Buenos Aires is not very inexpensive especially if you plan on enjoying the night life and all the wonderful restaurants. Plus you must always have your cafe con leche and medial luna.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 125-150
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? You only study abroad once in Bueno Aires spend away.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

My economy class with professor Caruso was by far my favorite. She loved hearing our opinion on different topics occurring around the world. She was understanding and encouraging. Best class I've taken.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Fluent
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Fluent
How many hours per day did you use the language?
