Study Abroad Programs in Argentina
It was definitely worthwhile. I learned not only about a new country... but about myself as well.

* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |

* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Raul, the on-site director in Buenos Aires, was wonderful. He helped me with everything I needed, planned great activities, and gave us a great taste of Argentina. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I lived with a host family for the duration of my time in Argentina. It was AMAZING! It definitely made my experience better than I could have ever imagined. |
* Food: |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The best thing about Sol is that you truly get a well-rounded experience. We had museum tours, cooking lessons, and music and dance classes in addition to volunteer opportunities and weekly language exchanges with locals. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Buenos Aires is a gigantic city. Because of that, you have to take extra precautions. Walk with friends at night, carry your bags in front of you on public transportation, keep your phone in your pocket while walking around the streets, etc. If you use common sense and take a few basic precautions, you shouldn't be worried about living in Buenos Aires. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I had been planning to study abroad in Buenos Aires since freshman year of college. So, I had very high expectations. To my very pleasant surprise, the program and the city exceeded everything I expected before leaving. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Coming from the NYC area, I was used to very rigid schedules. If you plan to meet someone at 9, for example, you arrive by 8:55. Argentina doesn't work like that. If something is supposed to start at 9 or you make plans to meet up with friends at 9, don't expect anything to happen until at least 9:30! Learning how to be late was very hard for me. |
Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
