Study Abroad Programs in Argentina
I learned a lot of Spanish and about the Argentine culture. It was definitely worthwhile!
Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 1 month - 6 months |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
It was perfect for what I needed. Small class sizes were good. I could ask any question I had at any time. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
They were incredibly nice and helpful! |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Very satisfied! My host mom was insanely nice and helped me with planning weekend trips and stuff. |
* Food: |
The food was really good, but different than what I was used to. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
It's honestly super safe. There are always people out walking around 24/7, so you're never going to be alone walking down the street. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
I honestly don't think I need the structure of this program any more. I think I would be good to travel on my own. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I spent quite a bit of money on food, going out, and weekend trips, but I'd honestly say it was money well spent. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $70 roughly |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Always eat the meals the host mom prepares, and see if she has leftovers, ask if you can eat those for lunch also. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
You can get away with speaking English within the group if you don't have the drive to use your Spanish. I went out of my way to use the language outside my classes and it made all the difference. |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Advanced |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Fluent |
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | C1 Advanced II |
How many hours per day did you use the language? | |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | Make friends with locals when you go out! It's the most fun way to practice! |
