Study Abroad Programs in Argentina

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I would do anything to redo this year again. I learned so much about myself and I learned the culture and language of a beautiful place. It changed my life.

Personal Information

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I went to academia and UB. Both were great. But I seriously loved academia. Would love to go back and even work there if I had the opportunity.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Raul and Beatriz are AMAZING! Couldn’t have asked for better people to help me through my year abroad with Sol.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It’s all about how often you want to get out and go. You can’t sit in bed and watch Netflix and expect to fall in love with the culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

100 a week or more. But I will say I went out quite a bit and liked to stay busy and active.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Around $100.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? BUDGET! If you don’t you will overspend. The money goes quicker than you’d think!

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

I started at basic level 1 at academia. I ended in level 6 and felt completely comfortable speaking the language. But it takes hard work!

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Advanced
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? Basic
How many hours per day did you use the language?
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Watch movies, read, talk to your friends all in Spanish. Hangout with locals, not only Americans. Write down new words you hear and study them every day.
