Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Generally, five or six of us students would sit around a table and talk to each other and our teacher about subjects ranging from current events to sports to music. We would go over homework also, but the verbal improvement was the most noticeable for me.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Raul was our primary contact in Argentina and he was amazing. He picked me up at the airport, brought me to my host family, showed me around Buenos Aires and introduced me to the rest of the students all within a few hours. He was flexible in helping us with Argentinian culture and in bringing us where we wanted to go. Plus, if we were a bit tired and needed some free time, he was open to that. I could not imagine a better team leader.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I did it all through Sol. She took care of everything- all I needed to do was change currencies. It was a great area, there were some bars nearby, and to get to the younger scene with more dancing and clubs, we could just take a cab. I could not have been happier with my host Helena (I called her Mamita by the end of it).

* Food:

Mamita made some amazing meals. We usually grabbed lunch on our own.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Learning the tango and seeing a show was awesome. We went to one of the biggest cemetaries in the world, which sounds depressing but it was amazing seeing some of the buildings these caskets were in. It was an awesome time.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Obviously try to stick together, but I never felt threatened in the slightest.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

  • The culture, Raul, and the students.
* What could be improved?
  • I just wanted more time to see different regions.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Go to Argentina. The culture is awesome and you'll meet some people you'll never forget. I'm pretty outgoing, as were a lot of the students I was with, so that could help. I could not
