I had a great host family that was very welcoming and helped me with my language skills. They were polite, generous, and fun. |

There is no spicy food. They eat a lot of pork and pork products. Everything is very healthy and organic. |

How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The cultural field trip were amazing. Ballet Folklorico and capoeira were my favorite activities. |

| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | The atm fees are very high. Use cash for most transactions. Take out money in large sums to avoid atm fees. |

I spoke with my family on a daily basis in Portuguese and with locals. The city I was in did not have many English speakers. I read magazines to help me with my vocabulary. |
