Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classrooms were very small so there was plenty of one-on-one attention from the instructor. The workload was appropriate for the level being taught, and grading was very fair. My instructors were very passionate about their students and went above and beyond to educate us.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration was excellent. The directors were involved in every aspect of the trip, from pick-up and drop-off at the airport to contacting my U.S. university to insure proper credit-transfer to setting up individual tutoring sessions and helping to plan group events.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The SOL program made all the arrangements for me. I lived with a wonderful family in walking distance from the school and busstop. My host family truly treated me like family; my host mom did everything she could to make sure I was comfortable, safe and happy.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

Speaking was practiced in class, at home with my host family, with the local community, and with friends on the program. The program director highly encouraged speaking the host country language; most people understood a little English if necessary, but Spanish was used in everyday interactions.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
