My neighbor hood felt very safe. My host family is what really made the trip! I LOVE them and plan to go back and stay with them again this summer! They are like extended family now. My host brother took me and my other sisters to various places around Costa Rica. My host parents too me to meet their family and to the market which is incredible!

* Food:

My host mom was such an amazing cook. all of the food was deliscious! I warm you though you won't be able to stop eating it. =P

I felt safe while living in Heredia. Just be smart and don't go anywhere on your own/ don't walk around at night. Practice the same safety skills that you have to in all other parts of the world.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

I basically spoke Spanish 24/7 while living there. My host parents did not know English, which was good because I had no choice, but to speak Spanish. We were also require to speak only Spanish in the classrooms as well.
