What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was amazing, I made tons of friends, learned a lot about Ancient and modern Egypt and fell in love with the country.

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Great variety of experiences from a lecture class to an excavation, and a class where we toured all over to the ancient sites

On-site administration of your program

Wonderful support from the program administrators from setting up visas to booking the plane ticket and you always have someone from the program you are with while there

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Living in a mudbrick house with 40 other people including archaeologists from all over the world and Egypt itself sharing daily meals was better than the college dorm experience

* Food:

Amazing - cheap street food

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Shouldn't go out on your own, but I never felt unsafe

Was the same a a semester at home so not much difference in cost. Essentials were taken care of and anything else was inexpensive.

We had to use arabic to interact with the staff in the house and at the dig site

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Go to town and don't be afraid to practice because Egyptians are excited for you to learn their language
