Study Abroad Programs in England

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Very worthwhile. The trip gave me tons of inspirational background; I feel so much more educated on historical and cultural reference that I can pull from to use in my art.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Exposure to international culture and history was excellent and almost perfect. The classes themselves were a little disappointing - I felt like I could have learned more with more time for advanced instruction. Alot of time was spent tending to the needs of non-art students and teaching them the basics.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The activities and trips were planned out very well and I felt like we were able to hit many of the most important and impressive sites, monuments and museums. The only major problem: punctuality. I feel like the directors could have done more to leave on time and that caused alot of the students to be more relaxed with being on time as well.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I think for the amount spent, the housing was decent. I never felt unsafe or unclean in any of the housing arrangements we had.

* Food:

Only regret - more time in Belgium

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Most of the time I felt pretty normal. Paris was where I felt the most like a dopey tourist.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

No issues on my end.

* Safety:

I never felt unsafe, but I adhered pretty closely to the rules and guidelines of the study abroad.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? No
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $100 on average
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you're staying at the same location for a while and you have access to a kitchen - take advantage and buy groceries from a large grocery store if you can find one. Its not a bad idea to maybe buy some cheap cooking utensils as well. I got a cheap pot for about $5 and made pasta in it several times, saving tons of money on eating out for lunch.
