Study Abroad Programs in Scotland

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned to appreciate Art and learned that everyone is an Artist in their own right. I also gained a new understanding of how vast nature is and how beautiful the mountains and hills are.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The Instructors were very knowledgeable about the subjects and helpful in assisting the students. The facilities were extremely updated and modern which allowed the students more versatility and made for a better working environment.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The Host Administration was very organized and helpful. They gave pertinent information and made it easy to navigate around the city upon arrival.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The location was outstanding. The overall accommodations were very good. The rooms did get noisy at night and the shower was very small.

* Food:

The food was pricy and very ethnic. I am not used to eating food with different flavoring. Overall, the food was good.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

There were a lot of things to do in the city and a lot of events were happening while we were there. The social experience was amazing!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Scotland is a very safe country and were stayed in a secure place. There were no problems with safety.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I spent about 150 pounds were a week. This included all meals that were not paid for by my college, gifts, and excursions.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Great Britain can be expensive so I would recommend having a plan on what you are going to spend prior to arriving and also be creative in finding local places to eat and not just the tourist traps. -

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
