She learned how bad inner city schools are in America and how bad CIEE's service is. Obviously not worthwhile

I'm filling this out on behalf of a student who came to the USA and was placed in an inner city school with all kinds of problems. She had a good experience with the host family, but was being badly affected by the stress of going to this school (it has metal detectors as you go in, fights & vaping/smoking weed is so common that bathtrooms are locked all day, students swear at teachers, many fights even in class! We helped her find a host family in another town with a good school and her sending org, both host families, and both schools were all ok with her transferring... but CIEE said no! She & her org made an appeal and as a teacher of hers I also talked to them, but they still denied her appeal. I was shocked at how intentionally bad the customer service was; they told her the issues at the school is common in every school, which means they're either lying or extremely naive. I was so appalled that I felt I had to write and give as bad a review as possible. The only thing I can figure is that CIEE must get paid more by the school or something, everyone else I talk to knows how much worse this city's schools are compared to any of the other ones. So if you go with CIEE, hope for the best, b/c they don't care about their students and have awful service. Can't say enough bad things about this decision |
