Summit Global Education: Europe - Study Abroad Tour (Multi-Country)

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that basically people are the same everywhere, everyone wants to feel accepted and respected, you just express this differently in each culture,each place just comes with its own quirks! If you have any way to study abroad you should, it's one of the best things I did for myself personally and professionally! You learn so much about yourself over the course of the program!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Administration was lenient and empathetic towards us. They were always flexible with assignment due dates and understood that our experience in each location was more important than deadlines since we had a limited time in each city/country.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Overall housing was wonderful I was always comfortable but air conditioning would have been appreciated since we are all so accustomed to it but when in Rome!

* Food:

Always use Trip Advisor for each city, every time I had the option and used that site I was happy with my choice. If you like your meat well done make sure to specify or you will be really disappointed!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt like this program was super immersive, you are often times left to figure things out on your own, if you like extreme structure and someone "holding your hand"this isn't the program for you.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Just remember to always be aware, never look flustered or too confused/lost and people will let you be. Don't let yourself be an easy target for pick pocketing by playing on your phone and not paying attention to your surroundings.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not sure how to rate this, understand that everything adds up I would bring at least $2,500 with you and don't do your currency exchange before just use ATMS once you arrive. Make sure to bring a Visa with a pin for debit and credit and have a chip in your credit card.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Varied per city
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Take advantage of any place where you have a kitchen! Check places like Groupon and ask about student discounts. Don't worry about saving money you will spend money and it will feel like a lot but you can save money once you get home. Understand that everything has a cost and if you are too stressed out because you didn't come prepared with enough money you won't have as much fun as if you planned ahead!

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Don't worry so much, everything works out and whats supposed to happen will find a way, you don't need to bring as much as you think you did, but the bag requirement is pretty flexible! This program really illustrated that you can't control everything but you can reach similar results in different ways.

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

Cross Cultural Management

Course Department:
Instructor: Marcelo Zorvich
Instruction Language: English
Comments: Marcelo was the best professor I have had to date. He made discussions interactive and we had debates but he never pushed his opinion on us. I think that with the few weeks we had with him I retained the most information I have of any college level course. The course was impactful and I will be able to apply this knowledge to my both my personal and professional life.
