HUMN II in Prague: A trip I will never forget! Past Review
By Nicole C (Biology, General., SUNY - College at Geneseo) for
SUNY Geneseo: Prague - Humanities Course
The program in Prague/Vienna was well worth it. I learned so much about an area of Europe, in which I knew nothing about before! I absolutely love Europe, and since I was able to travel and experience cities on my own (with out adults), I have much more confidence in myself as a traveler. In the future, I definitely want to visit and travel to more European cities.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
We did not have that much class time. If we had more class time, we may have learned more about the books we read but then again, I absolutely loved it because our learning experience was based off of travel experience and learning about Prague. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Dr. Klima was very knowledgeable about the host country as well as material that was discussed in the Humanities II class. She planned a lot of great tours for us and showed us a lot about the cities of Prague and Vienna. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The location was fantastic... very close to the center of the city and close to all the nightlife. It was very easy to get around and I felt safe when walking around the streets near our dorm. |
* Food: |
The food was delicious and there were so many places to eat! Zaama Zaamas was located right around the corner from our dorm and was very good. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
We took a cruise along the river that runs through Prague, we visited the Praha Zoo, we ate dinner at a nice restaurant that overlooked all of Prague, and also went to a beautiful winery that was up on a hill overlooking Prague. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Felt very safe in Prague. When we travelled by ourselves to Munich, I may have felt a little unsafe at night time walking around. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Any student who doesn't know much about the Czech Republic, and would love an amazing trip where they experience a new, European city such as Prague, and wants to learn to travel to new cities, such as Vienna, Munich, and Budapest, should join this particular program. You will truly love it!! |
Individual Course Reviews
Course Name/Rating: |
Humanities II |
Course Department: | Humanities |
Instructor: | Cynthia Klima |
Instruction Language: | English/Czech |
Comments: | The teacher was very knowledgeable about Prague and how to get around cities. I learned so much about living in a foreign country, and learned a lot about how to travel to other cities and get around safely. I definitely participated a lot more in Prague than I did at Geneseo (probably because everyone becomes really close and you get to know each other really well). |
Credit Transfer Issues: | No, I had no issues. |
