Sydney is a Global City Past Review
By Michael S (Marketing., SUNY - College at Oswego) for
SUNY Oswego: ACU National
I came away with a better sense of people and a broadened perspective on the world around me. I came away thinking about things differently and through a different lense.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
A little light in the loafers, but this helped because it gave us more time to spend experiencing Sydney, the real reason we were there. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
A group of students was accused of something the all but 1 had nothing to do with, and the meetings/events that subsequently followed were frustrating and offensive. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
BEAUTIFUL housing, incredible luxury. Only negative was sometimes we felt like we were walking on egg shells. |
* Food: |
Interesting, delicious food available everywhere. Still westernized but with a large Asian influence. Expensive but worth it. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Incredible experiences, very eye opening. Check out the blue mountains and hike through them, travel north along the coast if at all possible. Get around Sydney especially and participate in everything you can. I met a TON of awesome, interesting people: this will make or break your trip. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Everything was sanitary and professional. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | If you do this program, be as outgoing and willing to experience new things/people as you can be. Travel as much as possible, it is a very transient city with a lot to check out outside of it. Australia is very easy to travel and there are a LOT of interesting people doing the same thing you are. |
