What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot of Italian in the limited time I was there, which absolutely made it worthwhile for me.

I lived with a host family, and they were wonderful!

* Food:

Fantastic food, and Syracuse gave us a sheet at the beginning with food words in English and Italian so we could communicate allergies/dislikes with our host families

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

The few mental health care options were very expensive

* Safety:

I could walk alone at night in Florence and never had any issues, but was prepared in case I did

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Spend time with your host family! They're not required to feed you many meals, but I was around all the time, and they did.

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Really immerse yourself! Hang out with your host family, and try to meet and chat with locals!

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I had known I would only be there for a month and a half! I would have made more efforts to get out and see the things I wanted to see.
