While I was abroad, my world view was definitely expanded as I got exposed to more cultures and global issues.

A diverse range of course were offered in Florence that applied to many of my personal and academic interests! My favorite academic experience were the field trips we took for Survey of Italian Architecture

At every possible opportunity, we were encouraged to speak in Italian, even if our vocabulary was limited. This cultural immersion improved my experience in Italy.

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? As soon as I was admitted to the SU Florence program, I started practicing Italian on Duolingo so that I would have a basic vocabulary when I arrived.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? If I could do it all over again, I would try and explore some of the more niche locations in Florence like local bookstores, artist collectives, or restaurants, instead of starting with the famous and touristy spots.
