Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

At my university faculty has office hours however only a few of the faculty were available outside of class to help students. The grading system there seems a little more difficult.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The dean of students was always available and helpful. They planned some great trips for students, I did the Tuscany wine tasting and loved it! Program size was decent and classes had 15-30 kids like at my home university.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing was expensive but it was a safe neighborhood and a nice apartment. When things stopped working they were quickly fixed.

* Food:

Buy groceries and make breakfast at home. Allow yourself to eat out for dinner or lunch. Some great places to eat!!!!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We went wine tasting in Tuscany arranged by the host program. It was amazing!!!!!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

You have be cautious as anywhere you are. The university has a onsite doctor available for appointments and can also send students to another doctor.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced the language within the classes, and my roomates, as well as in stores and restaurants. But many people in Rome speak English so if you do not speak Italian you can still manage.

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? Direct Enrollment

  • Apartment
* Who did you live with?

  • Americans

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • I liked the location, so close to everything and in Rome!
  • The dean of students and resgrads, were always so caring and helpful!!!!
* What could be improved?
  • Offering office hours of faculty to help students outside of class.
  • Maybe coordinate housing with students schedules, morning class students live together and afternoon together as roommate issues can arise with opposite schedules.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Enjoy the experience, and way of life the country offers. Walk along and take in all you see, including the Forum, Colloseo, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps etc.... Nothing like walking along and bumping into the Trevi Fountain or Colosseum.Watch your spending when going out on the weekends drinks and taxi's can add up!
