The American University of Rome: Rome - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that you will never regret the things you did do but you will regret all the things you didn't do. Take advantage of everything you can while you are there. It was SO beyond worthwhile and was the best experience of my life.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

AUR's classes were small. My average class size was around 20 students so I got to know my classmates as well as my teachers on a personal level.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Staff and teachers were extremely helpful, friendly, and welcoming!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My apartment (in which I got through AUR) was located far from the school which was inconvenient.

* Food:

AMAZING.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We were all placed in housing spread out all across Rome within Italian apartment complexes. I felt we were fully submerged into the local culture, especially verses programs in which housing was in private dorms.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I have never felt uncomfortable or unsafe during my stay at AUR and in Rome.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Plan to spend A LOT of money especially if you plan to travel on the weekends!

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? No
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $500
